Our Sod Installation Process

We don't just lay grass over dirt. A lasting lawn requires meticulous preparation. Here is exactly how we guarantee your sod takes root successfully:

01

Site Clearing & Old Turf Removal

We excavate and remove all existing weeds, old dead grass, and debris. This creates a clean slate and prevents old growth from choking your new turf.

02

Sub-Grade Prep & Excavation

We address any existing drainage or pooling issues by grading the soil away from foundations and hardscapes, ensuring proper runoff.

03

Topsoil & Leveling

We bring in and evenly spread a fresh layer of nutrient-rich topsoil. This is screen-leveled to create a perfectly smooth, level surface for the sod to rest on.

04

Precision Sod Laying

Using fresh, locally sourced premium blend sod, we lay the rolls tightly together, staggering the seams like brickwork to eliminate gaps and visible lines.

Post Install Sod Care

Days 1 to 14: The Rooting Phase

  • Watering: Water 2 to 3 times daily (morning, afternoon, and early evening). The goal is to keep the sod and the topsoil underneath consistently damp, like a wrung-out sponge.

  • Stay Off the Grass: Keep heavy foot traffic, kids, and pets off the lawn entirely. The ground will be soft, and footprints will create permanent dips.

Days 15 to 30: The Establishment Phase

  • Check the Roots: Gently tug on a corner of a sod roll. If it resists, the roots are successfully bonding!

  • Taper Watering: Cut back to watering once a day, transitioning toward deeper, less frequent soakings to encourage the roots to grow deeper.

  • The First Mow: Once the grass reaches roughly 3.5 to 4 inches tall, you can take your first pass. Set your mower deck high (do not cut more than one-third of the grass blade height) and ensure your blades are razor-sharp.
